The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team is set to compete in the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate this weekend. The tournament, hosted by the University of Michigan, will take place at the Outlaw Course of Desert Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona on March 8-9. The event will feature a field of 17 teams including three Mid-American Conference members: EMU, Central Michigan University, and Miami University.

EMU's lineup for the competition includes Rory McDonald-O'Brien, Tim Chan, Daniel Robles Delval, James Baxter, and Bavake Sihota. These players have shown promising performances throughout the season with notable achievements such as Chan's school-record 63 at White Sands.

The tournament course is a par-72 measuring 7,107 yards. Teams will play two rounds on Saturday followed by one round on Sunday. Among the competitors are several nationally ranked teams and individuals. Utah ranks No. 10 among teams while their player Sergio Jimenez holds the same rank individually.

A reunion is expected for some EMU members as VCU participates in the event; both Head Coach Andy Walker and golfer Tim Chan were previously associated with VCU.

This tournament marks the beginning of a busy schedule for EMU as they prepare for upcoming events leading to the Mid-American Conference Championships in late April.

Tim Chan has recently made significant contributions to EMU's record books with his performances at White Sands where he achieved a program-best single-round score and placed third overall.

Looking ahead, EMU plans to participate in additional competitions including the Bell Bank 'Pay It Forward' Collegiate later this month in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
