The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) tennis team is set to face Chicago State University in a home match this Saturday, March 8, at the Chippewa Club in Ypsilanti. The Eagles, with a current record of 5-6, will compete against the Cougars, who have yet to secure a win this season.

Eastern Michigan's recent matches saw them defeated during their California road trip, losing to UC San Diego and UC Riverside. Despite these setbacks, player Sabina Brichackova has been a standout performer, achieving two singles victories in California and bringing her career total to 54 wins. She is close to tying for 20th place on EMU's all-time singles wins list.

The Eagles' doubles team has shown improvement under head coach Ryan Kucera. They claimed six out of eleven doubles points this season compared to just four times last year. Lara Diaz Zayas contributed significantly by winning both her doubles matches in California.

In preparation for the upcoming Mid-American Conference (MAC) play starting March 16, the EMU roster includes ten players from nine different countries. This diverse lineup aims to improve upon last year's fourth-place conference finish.

Chicago State enters the match with an 0-4 record after being swept in their previous encounters. The series between EMU and Chicago State is currently tied at two wins each.

Looking ahead, EMU plans to host Saginaw Valley State University on March 14 before opening their MAC schedule against Northern Illinois University on March 16.
