The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) lacrosse team is set for two away games this weekend. They will face Butler University on March 7 and the University of Cincinnati on March 9. EMU, currently with a record of 3-2, will play against the winless Bulldogs at Varsity Field in Indianapolis, Indiana. The match will be streamed live on FloSports at 3 p.m. The second game against Cincinnati's Bearcats, who hold a 4-3 record, will take place inside Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, and can be watched on ESPN+ at noon.
"The Eagles went 3-0 last week to bring their record to 3-2 on the year," according to the team update. "The win at Presbyterian (Feb. 25) to open the week was not only the first of the season for the Eagles but also stands as the first for Maddie Dugan as the program's head coach."
Two players received conference recognition for their performances last week: Mackenzie Blackwell was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week and Maddie Porter was named MAC Goalkeeper of the Week.
"Blackwell led the Eagles with 11 goals...and added eight ground balls, 12 draw controls, and one caused turnover on the week," while Porter "made 30 saves and saved more than half the shots she faced."
Looking ahead to their opponents, Butler has struggled with an 0-4 record so far this season. Meanwhile, Cincinnati has won three consecutive games after defeating Central Michigan in their most recent outing.
As EMU prepares for these road challenges, they carry momentum from recent victories including a notable win over Canisius which marked their third consecutive victory — a first in program history.
