Eastern Michigan University's baseball team faced a narrow defeat against Presbyterian College in a closely contested game, losing 10-9 at the PC Baseball Complex on March 2. The loss resulted in a split series with Presbyterian.

Giano Zuccaro, a senior outfielder from Middleburg Heights, Ohio, hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning, giving Eastern Michigan a temporary 9-8 lead. However, Presbyterian responded with two runs in the ninth inning to clinch the victory.

Following this game, Eastern Michigan's record is now 4-6 for the season. Meanwhile, Presbyterian College improved its record to 6-6.

The scoring began with Devan Zirwas of Eastern Michigan hitting a single to bring John Hale home. Zirwas continued his strong performance by hitting a solo home run in the third inning, leveling the score at 2-2. Brendan Kleiman contributed two RBIs in the fourth inning, helping Eastern Michigan take an early lead.

Presbyterian managed to regain momentum by scoring five runs in one inning and securing an 8-6 advantage. Zuccaro's homer temporarily reversed this trend before Presbyterian sealed their win with late-game heroics.

Devan Zirwas went 3-for-4 at bat and has maintained a high batting average of .389 for the season. He also extended his streak of reaching base to nine consecutive games.

Eastern recorded 12 hits during the game and has consistently performed well offensively this season. Despite achieving more hits than their opponents eight times this year, they have won only half of those games.

Defensively, Eastern committed no errors for the fifth time this season but has struggled to capitalize on such clean performances overall.

The team will next face Notre Dame on March 5 in South Bend, Indiana. Fans can follow updates via EMU's social media platforms.
