Eastern Michigan University's Devan Zirwas has been recognized as the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Co-Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the conference office on Monday, March 3.

Zirwas, hailing from Imperial, Pennsylvania, and a former student at West Allegheny/VCU, excelled in various offensive categories for the Eagles. In 17 at-bats, he achieved a batting average of .529 with nine hits, including three doubles and one home run. He also drove in three runs and accumulated 15 total bases. This marks the first time Zirwas has received this award, following his teammate Logan Hugo who was honored the previous week on February 25.

The consecutive awards for Zirwas and Hugo signify the first instance of back-to-back MAC Player of the Week honors for Eastern Michigan's baseball program since Lee Longo's consecutive accolades in February 2014.

During his standout week, Zirwas struck out only twice and posted an OPS of 1.411 (.882 slugging, .529 on-base). Defensively, he played flawlessly at first base with 28 putouts and three assists, maintaining a perfect fielding percentage. He recorded multiple hits in three out of four games during the week.

Zirwas is currently leading the MAC and ranks tenth nationally with seven doubles. He averages 0.88 doubles per game, placing him third nationally and first in the conference. Among EMU players, he is fifth in slugging percentage within the MAC with a .750 clip.

The Eagles will next face Notre Dame's Fighting Irish in South Bend, Indiana on Wednesday, March 5. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m., available to stream on ESPN+.
