The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) women's basketball team is set to play its final road game of the season against the University of Akron. The Mid-American Conference matchup will take place on Wednesday, March 5, at the James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron, Ohio. The Eagles, holding a record of 2-25 overall and 1-15 in conference play, will face off against the Zips, who are currently 9-20 overall and 3-13 in the MAC.

Eastern Michigan comes into this game after a loss to Buffalo with a score of 71-54. Olivia Smith led EMU in that contest with a season-high 17 points, including five three-pointers. Meanwhile, Sisi Eleko contributed eight points and seven rebounds.
The Eagles have shown strong performance from beyond the arc recently, making double-digit three-pointers in their last two games. They scored 14 against Miami and followed it up with 11 at Buffalo.
Akron has struggled lately, losing their last 13 games since winning against EMU earlier this season. The Zips' key players include Shelbee Brown, Alexus Mobley, and Teniesha Clarke.
Historically, Akron leads the all-time series against Eastern Michigan with a record of 31-19. The Eagles have not beaten Akron since January 2021.
Following this road trip, Eastern Michigan will return home for their final game of the season against Bowling Green State University on Saturday, March 8. This match will serve as Senior Day for EMU's departing members: Olivia Westphal, Mackenzie Amalia, Ashley Hassett, Kyndal Lewis and senior manager Lexie Mesuch.
