The Eastern Michigan University baseball team engaged in a doubleheader against Presbyterian College at the PC Baseball Complex on Saturday, March 1. The Eagles split the two games, losing the first 5-2 and winning the second 5-3.
In the opening game, senior pitcher Tyler Kapa delivered a strong performance with nine strikeouts over six innings. Despite this effort, Eastern Michigan could not maintain its initial 2-0 lead. Presbyterian responded with two runs in the fifth inning and added three more in the sixth, including a two-run homer by Evan Cuero. EMU's offense struggled after scoring early, managing only four hits for the remainder of the game.
The second game saw a different outcome for Eastern Michigan as they secured a win with contributions from all starters. Trailing 2-0 into the fifth inning, EMU scored five runs during that frame with key hits from Connor Walsh, John Hale, and Harrison Travis. Junior Nick Keane was instrumental out of the bullpen, throwing 2.2 hitless innings to earn his first save of the season. Defensively, EMU limited Presbyterian to one hit with runners in scoring position and left nine Blue Hose baserunners stranded.
"Eastern Michigan received contributions from every part of their lineup," stated an official report following Game 2. This teamwork helped secure their victory over Presbyterian.
The teams are set to conclude their series on March 2 at noon ET on ESPN+.
