Eastern Michigan secures three individual titles at MAC Indoor Championships

Eastern Michigan University's track and field teams concluded their participation in the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships with three individual champions. The event took place at Bowen Field House on March 1, where both men's and women's teams secured third-place finishes.

On the men's side, Kian Wiles from Hull, England won the mile race with a time of 4:11.90, while Carson McCoy from Pittsburgh claimed victory in the 800m race clocking in at 1:52.40. Saraiah Walkes from Manatee County, Florida emerged victorious in the women's 200m dash for the second year running, setting a new MAC Indoor Championships record with a time of 23.74.

The Eastern Michigan men scored a total of 120 points during the competition. The University of Akron led with 164 points to secure first place among men’s teams. On the women’s side, Bowling Green State University topped the leaderboard with 95 points while Eastern Michigan earned 77 points for third place.

Brendan Hill contributed to Eastern's success by placing second in the high jump with a mark of 2.08m (6-09.75). Formula Thompson achieved his personal best in triple jump with a leap measuring 15.39m and placed second overall.

For women’s events, Josephine Oloye finished second in the 400m dash at a time of 54.27 seconds, marking her as an All-MAC performer for her indoor career once again.

The Eastern Michigan track and field team will now look forward to potential participation in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships scheduled for March 14-15 at Virginia Beach Sports Center. The list of participants is expected to be announced on March 4.
