Eastern Michigan University's men's basketball team secured a victory over Central Michigan University with a score of 84-73 on Friday, February 28, at the George Gervin GameAbove Center. The win moves Eastern closer to a spot in the Mid-American Conference Tournament.

Jalen Terry led the Eagles by scoring 25 points, including six three-pointers. "Terry is the first player to achieve this statline more than twice in a single season since at least the 2001-02 season," noted the press release. His performance marked Eastern's first time making 12 triples since 2015.

Da'Sean Nelson contributed significantly by tying his season high in fouls drawn with 12 and making a season high of 13 free throws. He recorded his third career double-double and his 13th career game with over 20 points.

Eastern took an early lead by shooting effectively from behind the arc, going five-of-nine from three-point range within the first eight minutes. A subsequent run allowed them to establish a substantial lead, though Central Michigan narrowed it before halftime.

In the second half, Eastern capitalized on Central Michigan's mistakes and maintained their lead despite several attempts by CMU to close the gap. Terry played a crucial role in securing the win with timely three-pointers and free throws.

The game saw Eastern moving to an overall record of 15-14 and a conference record of 8-8, while Central Michigan fell to 13-16 overall and 6-10 in conference play.

Notably, Nelson became only the second player in MAC history this season to log at least 25 points, ten rebounds, and five assists in one game. Additionally, Terry has made multiple three-pointers in each of his last eight games.

The Eagles will next face Ohio University at the Convocation Center on Tuesday, March 4.
