Eastern Michigan swim & dive team excels on third day at MAC Championships

The Eastern Michigan University swim and dive team achieved three program top 10 times on the third day of the Mid-American Conference Championships. The event took place at Dorsi Raynolds Pool, hosted by the University at Buffalo.

Tristen Mina and Olivia Clarino delivered strong performances in the 100-yard butterfly, securing the No. 5 and No. 7 spots in program history with times of 54.59 and 55.08, respectively. Nina Larosa improved her standing in the 100-yard breaststroke from eighth to seventh, finishing ninth in the finals with a time of 1:02.62.

Abby Szadorski followed Larosa in the breaststroke event, placing 11th with a time of 1:03.05, contributing to a combined score of 15 points for Eastern Michigan.

Clarino and Mina also competed in the finals for the butterfly event, placing 13th and 16th respectively, adding five points to their team's total.

Moran Hofmeister showcased personal improvement by advancing to the finals of the 400-yard individual medley (IM) with a personal-best time of 4:30.21 during prelims and later improving it to finish at 4:28.88 in finals, earning four points for her team.

In diving events, Megan Lupa achieved fourth place in the preliminaries for the three-meter dive with a score of 261.50.

Eastern Michigan concluded their night with a season-best performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay by Marlee Christie, Emma Littrell, Lucy Noble, and Kiersten Russell clocking in at 1:32.47 for an additional score of 26 points.

After accumulating their highest single-day point total this season with fifty points on day three, Eastern Michigan stands seventh overall with a total of one hundred forty-two points.

Team standings after day three are as follows:

1st - Akron: 504 Points

2nd - Ohio: 424.5 Points

3rd - Miami: 376 Points

4th - Buffalo: 358 Points

5th - Ball State: 211.5 Points

6th - Bowling Green:155 Points

7th - Eastern Michigan:142 Points

8th - Toledo:131 Points

The Eagles will conclude their participation in this year's MAC Championships on Saturday, March first.
