The Eastern Michigan University rowing team is set to commence its spring competition against the University of Alabama on Saturday, March 1. The event will take place on the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, starting at 9 a.m. CT (10 a.m. ET). Crews from both universities will participate in a series of five 2,000-meter races.

Head Coach Kemp Savage and student-athlete Lily Wilhelm recently achieved success at the World University Championships. They led the United States women's eights boat to a gold medal from July 3-6 at Willem-Alexander Baan. "Winning is hard to put into words," Savage stated. Wilhelm added, "I did not know we won until we literally crossed the finish line."

Lucie Roy has been appointed as an Assistant Coach for Eastern Michigan's rowing team after previously serving in a volunteer capacity. Roy joins Head Coach Kemp Savage and other coaching staff members Delaney McGuire, Haley Dutton, and Kellie Savage.

Last season, Eastern Michigan secured three top-five finishes at the Coastal Athletic Association championships held May 17-18 at Cooper River Park. Reagan Fazekas was recognized as All-CAA.

The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced that women's rowing will be added to its sports lineup beginning with the 2025-26 academic year. This addition increases MAC's sponsored championships to 23 and positions it among leading Division I Conferences.

In academics, 18 Eastern Michigan rowing student-athletes were named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association National Scholar-Athletes for the 2024 season.

Eastern Michigan has also unveiled a newly renovated erg room inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center during the 2022-23 academic year. This facility offers expanded training space for athletes.

The Eagles have traditionally spent their spring break in Tuscaloosa over recent years, facing off against Alabama multiple times except in 2015 and during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Following this exhibition against Alabama, Eastern Michigan will travel to Philadelphia for the Doc Hosea Invitational on March 29.
