The Eastern Michigan University swim and dive team concluded the second day of the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championships at the Dorsi Raynolds Pool, hosted by the University at Buffalo. The Eagles are currently in seventh place with a total of 92 points.
During the first two days, the team achieved four personal-best marks and 13 season-bests. On the opening night, they competed in two events: the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. The Eagles secured sixth place in both events, setting season-best times. Notably, Azra Umut, Emma Littrell, Nehir Oz, and Kiersten Russell completed the 800-yard freestyle relay in a time of 7:23.45, significantly improving their previous best from December.
In another event, Siporah Sang, Nina Larosa, Tristen Mina, and Lucy Noble improved their best time for the 200-yard medley relay to finish in 1:41.13. By scoring 26 points in each relay event on day one, Eastern Michigan accumulated a total of 52 points.
On day two, three swimmers advanced to finals with top-16 finishes during preliminaries in the 500-yard freestyle. Ashley George led by placing 12th with a season-best time of five minutes flat. She was followed closely by Umut and Russell in subsequent positions. Despite only three swimmers advancing to finals, Eastern Michigan recorded eleven season-best times during preliminaries.
Megan Lupa had an impressive performance on the diving board with a tenth-place finish in prelims for the one-meter dive event. Ciara Wheeler delivered Eastern's top result in consolation finals for this category by finishing fifth.
Umut set a collegiate personal best while leading her team to tenth place during B finals for women's swimming competition within that same distance (4:54). Meanwhile both Russell improved upon her earlier placement from fourteenth up into twelfth spot alongside achieving another seasonal high mark herself (4:58) as did George who shaved off .83 seconds further reducing it down under five minutes (4:59).
The evening concluded with another solid showing when Umut joined forces once more alongside Larosa plus Mina together helping secure seventh position overall via completion of yet another successful swim effort clocking-in at just under four minutes' worth all told thus contributing twenty-four additional valuable point totals towards cumulative scores so far amassed across multiple categories throughout these initial stages being contested here today within larger context surrounding entire championship series itself continuing tomorrow morning starting promptly ten o'clock sharp before culminating later same day around six p.m..
