Eastern Michigan University's men's basketball team made a strong comeback against Bowling Green State University but ultimately fell short, losing 65-60 in a Mid-American Conference game at the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
Jalin Billingsley contributed significantly with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Jalen Terry led the Eagles with 14 points. Despite their efforts, Eastern was unable to secure a lead throughout the game.
The game began with Eastern struggling offensively, missing its first 14 three-point attempts and allowing Bowling Green to take a substantial lead. By halftime, Bowling Green was ahead 35-19.
Eastern Michigan responded strongly in the second half, scoring the first 12 points and holding Bowling Green scoreless for over five minutes. The Eagles managed to tie the game at 36-36 after an Arne Osojnik three-pointer but were unable to maintain momentum as Bowling Green regained control.
Despite tying the contest multiple times in the second half, Eastern never led in the match. The Eagles improved their shooting accuracy significantly in the final half but could not overcome Bowling Green's advantage.
Post-game statistics show Eastern shot 41.3% from the floor overall and struggled from beyond the arc with just a 21.4% success rate. In contrast, Bowling Green achieved a field goal percentage of 46% and excelled from three-point range at 52.9%.
Billingsley's performance was notable as he increased his field goal percentage ranking within the conference following his perfect shooting night. Terry continued his streak of making multiple three-pointers per game.
Arne Osojnik had an impressive all-around performance with seven points, ten rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block—marking him as a standout player this season within the MAC.
Da'Sean Nelson added another block to his record while John Shanu II scored six points in his sixth consecutive start.
The Eagles' loss moves them to an overall record of 14-14 and 7-8 in conference play. They will next face Central Michigan on February 28th at home in a nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network.
