Eastern Michigan University track teams excel at Silverston Invitational

The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) track and field teams concluded their indoor regular season with notable performances at the Silverston Invitational, hosted by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The event took place on February 21st and saw EMU athletes achieve nine first-place finishes along with 24 personal-best marks.

In women's events, Nicolette Lewis from Douglasville, Georgia excelled in the weight throw, securing a personal best of 16.43 meters, which places her tenth in EMU's program history. Paige Marchant from London, Ontario led the mile run with a time of 4:55.50. The relay team consisting of Mia Biehl, Tijana Japundzic, Demetria Henderson, and Delphine Drath claimed victory in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:56.40.

Samantha Smith achieved the top mark in pole vault at 3.55 meters. In long jump events, Shay Clemetson set a personal best of 5.83 meters to lead five Eagles who finished within the top seven positions.

On the men's side, Formula Thompson won the triple jump with a distance of 14.39 meters while Leland Godfrey triumphed in shot put at 14.57 meters. Ousman Kamara and Lucky Fiaku both reached heights of 2.00 meters to tie for first place in high jump.

The Eastern men recorded fourteen personal bests as they prepare for next week's Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships.
