The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) men's golf team is preparing to participate in the Lake Las Vegas Invitational, which will take place from February 24-26 at Reflection Bay Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada. This tournament marks the first of three consecutive events for the Eagles in the high desert region.
Hosted by Arkansas State University, the tournament will feature 14 teams competing on a par-72 course that stretches over 7,204 yards. Teams will tee off from holes No. 1 and No. 10 at 10 a.m. ET on February 24 and February 25, with a shotgun start scheduled for the final round on February 26 at 10:30 a.m. ET.
Eastern Michigan's lineup includes James Baxter, Tim Chan, Pietro Fenoglio, Rory McDonald-O'Brien, Matthew Rastogi, and Daniel Robles Delval. Notably, Tim Chan holds a school record after carding a score of 63 at White Sands and has been instrumental in leading his team with impressive performances.
Two ranked teams are participating: Long Beach State (No. 39) and TCU (No. 44). Charlie Forster of Long Beach State is ranked No. 81 nationally among individual players.
Reflecting on past performances, VCU won last year's edition of this event under Andy Walker's leadership—who now coaches EMU—with Tim Chan being part of that winning team.
In recent tournaments, EMU placed seventh out of twelve teams at White Sands with an overall score of eight-under-par and finished fourteenth at the Gator Invitational hosted by Florida.
Looking ahead beyond Lake Las Vegas Invitational, EMU plans to compete in Scottsdale's Desert Mountain Intercollegiate from March 7-8 hosted by the University of Michigan.
