Eastern Michigan University's women's basketball team faced a tough game against Central Michigan University, ending in a 74-62 defeat. The match took place on February 19 at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti.
Kyndal Lewis stood out for EMU, scoring a career-high 15 points. "Lewis led the way for the Eagles with a career-high 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting while adding two assists, three rebounds, and one steal." Freshman Chelsea Bishop also achieved a personal best with 11 points. Olivia Smith contributed 10 points to her team's efforts.
The game began with Central Michigan establishing an early lead. They shot effectively from the floor, leading by ten points within the first few minutes. Despite Eastern Michigan's attempts to close the gap, including contributions from Jada Williams and Olivia Westphal, they were unable to overcome CMU's advantage.
"Eastern sent eight different players to the floor with seven scoring points," highlighting their team effort despite the loss. However, turnovers and missed opportunities allowed CMU to maintain control throughout most of the game.
With this result, Eastern Michigan fell to a record of 1-23 overall and remained winless in their conference games at 0-13. The Chippewas improved their standing to an overall record of 11-14 and a conference record of 6-7.
The Eagles will next travel to DeKalb, Illinois, where they will face Northern Illinois University as part of an EMU doubleheader event scheduled for this weekend.
