Eastern Michigan triumphs over Miami in key MAC matchup

Eastern Michigan University's men's basketball team secured a victory over Miami, the second-place team in the Mid-American Conference, with a score of 76-66 on Tuesday, February 18. The game took place at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Da'Sean Nelson and Jalen Terry were pivotal in leading Eastern to this win. Nelson scored 25 points, collected eight rebounds, made four blocks, and contributed three assists. Terry added 24 points along with nine rebounds, two assists, three steals, and two blocks. At one point in the second half, Eastern led by as many as 22 points.

The Eagles started strong with a 21-10 lead. Miami responded with a quick five-point run before Eastern countered with an 11-point streak. By halftime, Eastern was ahead by 35-23 after Miami's late first-half rally.

In the second half, Eastern continued its momentum with a 16-4 run. They achieved their largest lead at 55-33 with just under thirteen minutes remaining. Despite Miami reducing the gap to thirteen points later in the game, Eastern maintained control and finished with a ten-point victory.

Following this game, Eastern Michigan holds an overall record of 13-13 and is now 6-7 in conference play. Miami stands at 19-7 overall and has a conference record of 10-3.

Nelson's performance marked his third game this season scoring over twenty-five points and his tenth exceeding twenty points. He also made three out of four attempts from beyond the arc for the first time in his career.

Terry played for thirty-eight minutes and reached several personal milestones during the game. Christian Henry contributed nine points and six assists while Jalin Billingsley added twelve points and five rebounds.

Eastern Michigan will next face Northern Illinois on Saturday, February 22.
