Jalen Terry's impressive performance led Eastern Michigan University to a victory over the University of Toledo, 80-73, at the George Gervin GameAbove Center. Terry scored a career-high 38 points, making his first 12 field goal attempts and finishing with six three-pointers and eight rebounds.
Da'Sean Nelson contributed significantly with 21 points, surpassing 1,000 career points as a Division I player. "Nelson finished the contest with 21 points while going 9-of-22 from the field," noted the game summary.
Eastern Michigan maintained control for most of the game after taking an early lead. "The Eagles continued their hot shooting throughout the first half," leading by as much as 32-19 before settling at a ten-point advantage by halftime.
Toledo made several attempts to close the gap in the second half but was unable to overtake Eastern Michigan. Despite closing within three points near the end of the game, Toledo missed crucial free throws that could have tied it up. Jalin Billingsley secured a rebound and made subsequent free throws to secure Eastern's win.
With this victory, Eastern improved its overall record to 12-13 and its conference record to 5-7 in the MAC. Meanwhile, Toledo's records moved to 15-10 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
This win also marked an end to Eastern's eight-game losing streak against Toledo. The team continues its season by hosting Miami University on February 18th.
