The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) tennis team secured a 4-3 victory against Cleveland State University on February 14 at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion in Cleveland, Ohio. This win ended the Eagles' four-match losing streak, improving their record to 3-4 while the Vikings fell to 3-5.

Head Coach Ryan Kucera expressed his pride in the team's performance: "I'm so proud of this team. We made our energy and togetherness a priority and it paid off today. Everyone fought for each other from the first ball to last and the energy from our bench was instrumental. Cleveland State is an excellent program, and they deserve a ton of credit; they were incredibly tough and made us earn everything. This was a true team win, but Viki Hazmukova deserves a special mention for the gritty clinch on her birthday! We're excited to keep growing from this and take the momentum into Sunday."

In doubles play, EMU captured the point with wins by Lara Diaz Zayas and Prerna Vichare at No. 2, followed by Sabina Brichackova and Viki Hazmukova at No. 3. This marked the first time this season that the No. 3 doubles team clinched the point for EMU.

In singles matches, Marta Komar won at No. 3 due to retirement, while Vichare's victory at No. 4 gave EMU a 3-0 lead. The Vikings scored their first point with a win at No. 6 before Hazmukova clinched the dual for EMU with her win at No. 2 in three sets.

Looking ahead, EMU will host Butler University on February 16 inside the Chippewa Club in Ypsilanti.
