Senior gymnast Ella Chemotti delivered a standout performance on the beam with a score of 9.925, marking the fourth-best score in Eastern Michigan University's history for that event. This achievement occurred during the gymnastics meet against Central Michigan at McGuirk Arena on February 14, where EMU ultimately fell short with a total score of 194.150 to Central Michigan's 195.625.
Chemotti, hailing from Canton, Michigan, has now become the first gymnast in EMU's history to achieve four scores of 9.925 or higher on the beam throughout her career. Her recent score was just shy of her personal best of 9.950 set in 2022.
Sophomore Abby Brushwood also excelled by posting a career-high score of 9.875 on floor exercise, continuing her streak of scoring at least 9.800 or higher in five consecutive meets.
In all-around performances, Kyrie Lowe achieved the top result for EMU with a second-place finish and an accumulated total of 38.625 points.
Analiah Solorio equaled her personal best on bars with a score of 9.800, leading Eastern Michigan in that event alongside Lowe and Chemotti who scored slightly lower.
On vault, Alana Fisher led with a score of 9.725 while Gwendelyn Cantu followed closely behind as part of Eastern's efforts which totaled 47.925 points for this category.
The floor exercise saw Brushwood lead with her record-setting performance and Raisa Boris tying for third place with a commendable effort as well.
Chemotti’s performance was pivotal as she won the beam event outright while Boris secured second place followed by Fisher's solid contribution helping Eastern achieve their highest mark in any event this season with a combined total score of 49.025.
Looking ahead, EMU is scheduled to host Western Michigan and Wilberforce in an upcoming tri-meet on February 27 at George Gervin GameAbove Center.
