Eastern Michigan University's women's basketball team is set to face Ball State University in a doubleheader event on Saturday, February 15, at the George Gervin GameAbove Center. The Eagles, with a current record of 1-21 overall and 0-11 in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), will meet the Cardinals who stand at 19-5 overall and are undefeated in MAC play with an 11-0 record.
The game is scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by a men's game against the University of Toledo at approximately 3:30 p.m. Both matches will be available for streaming on ESPN+ with commentary from Ryan Wooley and Claire Dau for the women's game. Tom Helmer and John Motherwell will provide live coverage on WEMU (89.1 FM) and through the Varsity Network.
"Eastern has seven more games on the regular season schedule with four coming at home," noted Eastern Michigan University's athletic department. The upcoming match against Ball State marks their third encounter this season with a team ranked in the College Inside Mid-Major Top 25.
The Eagles' standout player, Sisi Eleko, has been making significant contributions to her team. She recently reached over 400 points for the season, becoming the first EMU player since Natachia Watkins in the 2011-12 season to achieve over 400 points and 200 rebounds within one season. "Sisi Eleko picked up her MAC-leading 11th double-double of the season," reported EMU Athletics.
Ball State's recent performance includes ending their winning streak after a close loss to James Madison in the MAC/SBC Challenge. They have been strong competitors within their league, defeating opponents by an average margin of 17.7 points per game.
This matchup will be their third encounter this year against teams ranked high in national standings. Ball State previously defeated Eastern Michigan earlier this year with a score of 101-69 during their meeting on January 8.
Following this event, Eastern Michigan will host Central Michigan University on February 19 at home. Fans can follow updates through @EMUWBB and @EMUAthletics on social media platforms.
