The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team faced a challenging game against Georgia State University, resulting in a 55-43 loss on February 8 at the GSU Convocation Center in Atlanta. The Eagles now hold a record of 1-21, while the Panthers are at 12-12.
Sisi Eleko led the Eagles with 14 points and reached a milestone of 403 points this season. Olivia Smith contributed 13 points, hitting four three-pointers, tying her career-high. Kyndal Lewis achieved a personal best with ten rebounds during the game.
The match started with both teams moving quickly but scoring minimally. Smith opened the scoring with a three-pointer before Georgia State went on an 8-0 run. Despite efforts from Eleko and others, the Eagles trailed at each quarter's end.
In the third quarter, EMU briefly took the lead after Smith hit another three-pointer. However, turnovers allowed Georgia State to regain control and finish strong with a decisive fourth-quarter performance.
This loss marks only the second meeting between Eastern Michigan and Georgia State, leaving EMU's all-time record against them at one win and one loss.
Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan returns home for their next game against Ball State University as part of an EMU doubleheader event. Both games will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
