The Mid-American Conference (MAC) has released its 2025 Preseason Coaches Poll, positioning the Eastern Michigan University (EMU) lacrosse team in third place for the upcoming season. This announcement, made on February 5, places EMU alongside two other teams that received first-place votes and recognition as potential conference tournament winners.
Robert Morris University leads the poll with 34 points and four first-place votes. Central Michigan University follows closely in second place with 31 points and two first-place votes. EMU secured 26 points and one first-place vote, while Kent State University was placed fourth with 18 points. The University of Detroit Mercy ranks fifth with 16 points, and both the University of Akron and Youngstown State University share sixth place with 11 points each.
Coaches were also asked to predict which team would claim victory in the 2025 MAC Tournament and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Central Michigan received three votes, while both Eastern Michigan and Robert Morris earned two votes each.
This third-place ranking marks EMU's highest position in their three-year history, improving from a tie for sixth place in 2023 and fourth last year. The Eagles' score of 26 points is a notable increase from previous years—10 more than their total in 2024—and they have received their first-ever first-place vote along with tournament-winning predictions.
Eastern Michigan's season begins later this week under Head Coach Maddie Dugan, who was named MAC Coach of the Year last season. The team will host San Diego State University on Sunday, February 9, at the EMU Indoor Practice Facility.
