Mina shines as EMU swim & dive falls to Ohio University

Eastern Michigan University's swimming and diving team faced a challenging meet against Ohio University, resulting in a 272.5-79.5 loss at the OU Aquatic Center from January 31 to February 1. Despite the defeat, there were notable performances by several EMU athletes.

Tristen Mina made headlines by achieving the program's sixth-fastest time in the 100-yard butterfly with a personal best of 54.94 seconds, earning her a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America National Invitational Championships B cut. Azra Umut also stood out with three top-three finishes and personal bests, including first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.47.

The Eagles secured one first-place finish along with seven second-place and eight third-place showings. The team recorded six personal-best marks and eighteen season-bests throughout the competition.

In individual events, Emma Littrell finished second in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.14 seconds, while Marlee Christie followed closely in third place at 24.20 seconds. In diving, Megan Lupa achieved a collegiate personal best in the three-meter dive with a score of 284.25 points, securing her second NCAA Zone Diving Championships cut this season.

As they prepare for their next event, Eastern Michigan will host their annual Senior Extravaganza on February 8 at Jones Natatorium.
