The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team is set to compete against Northern Illinois University this Sunday, February 2, at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois. The Eagles are looking to rebound after their first loss of the season to Kent State on January 26. Despite the setback, Raisa Boris earned her third all-around win of the season with a standout performance on beam.

Raisa Boris has been recognized as MAC Gymnast of the Week and MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week in January. Her performances have consistently placed her in the top 10 across all events, including a second-place finish on beam with a score of 9.825.

Earlier this season, Eastern Michigan achieved a narrow victory over Ball State, which was favored in preseason polls. This victory contributed to their early-season success where they went 4-0 for the first time since at least 2001.

Eastern Michigan's gymnastics team has shown strong performances historically, achieving several top-10 scores last season. Notably, they scored a program record third-best overall score at Kent State on March 3.

In preseason predictions by MAC coaches, Eastern Michigan was picked to finish fifth in the conference but currently holds the top spot nationally among MAC teams.

Junior Priya Karle delivered a career-high performance on floor during the Golden Girls Classic earlier this month. Alana Fisher and Keeley Kohler were named as gymnasts to watch for their notable contributions this season.

Northern Illinois ranks sixth in MAC standings and is currently ranked 55th nationally with an average score of 192.500. Their strongest event has been vault where they rank fourth within MAC.

The upcoming meet against Northern Illinois presents an opportunity for Eastern Michigan to improve its conference record before heading into future competitions such as Western Michigan next week and potentially qualifying for NCAA Regionals later this year.
