Chris Wiesehan joins Eastern Michigan University as assistant football coach

Chris Wiesehan has been appointed as an assistant football coach at Eastern Michigan University, according to Head Coach Chris Creighton. Wiesehan, who has over 30 years of coaching experience, will take on the role of offensive line coach. Previously, he served as an assistant at Temple University for three seasons.

Creighton expressed his enthusiasm about the new addition to the team: "I first met Chris Wiesehan nearly 25 years ago and have admired him ever since," he said. "He is made of the right stuff and will make us better. We are all excited to get started, and I'm thankful that he is with us."

Wiesehan's extensive coaching career includes positions at various collegiate programs such as Georgia Tech, Hawai'i, UCLA, Syracuse, James Madison, Northern Arizona, Buffalo, Notre Dame, Purdue, and Fort Hays State. He also gained professional experience with the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Expressing his excitement about joining EMU, Wiesehan stated: "Renee, Colton, and I are excited to join the EMU family and Ypsilanti community. I am grateful for the opportunity to work and learn under Coach Creighton. We are looking forward to making a meaningful impact on our student-athletes and continue to chase Mid-American Conference Championships."

Throughout his career, Wiesehan has coached every offensive position except quarterback and has seen multiple players advance to the NFL Draft from each position he coached. During his tenure at Temple from 2014-18 alone, 13 players under his guidance went on to play in the NFL.

His coaching resume also highlights successful stints with other teams. At Georgia Tech, he reintroduced tight ends into their program after a long absence. While at Temple in 2018 as offensive line coach/run-game coordinator, all five regular starters earned recognition paving way for Ryquell Armstead's notable rushing performance.

In addition to collegiate achievements, Wiesehan contributed significantly during his time with professional teams like Winnipeg Blue Bombers leading them towards Grey Cup participation while mentoring top league receivers like Terrence Edwards.

Wiesehan began his coaching journey back in 1994 after being an all-America wide receiver himself during college days where he set NCAA Division III records still standing today before graduating from Wabash College holding degrees both academically & athletically honored through induction into their Hall Of Fame later on life path alongside family residing now within St Louis Missouri area comprising wife Renee plus son Colton too!
