The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team faced a challenging game against Kent State University, resulting in a 79-59 loss. The match took place on January 29 at the MAC Center in Kent, Ohio. Despite the defeat, standout performances were noted from Sisi Eleko and Olivia Smith.

Sisi Eleko contributed significantly with 24 points and nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double. This marks her fourth time this season scoring at least 20 points in consecutive games. Olivia Smith added a season-high of 16 points and provided four assists. She managed to score 11 points by halftime.

Olivia Westphal was also effective from beyond the arc, hitting three three-pointers and finishing with nine points. Her performance extended her streak of making at least two three-pointers in 16 out of 18 games this season.

Despite their efforts, the Eagles struggled to keep up with Kent State's pace throughout the game. After trailing early on, they managed to close the gap during parts of the second half but could not maintain momentum against the Golden Flashes' offensive pushes.

With this result, Eastern Michigan's record fell to 1-18 overall and 0-9 in Mid-American Conference play. The Eagles have now lost eight consecutive meetings against Kent State and are currently facing a four-game losing streak when playing away at Kent.

Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan will return home for a game against the University of Toledo on February 2. This upcoming match is part of Alumni Weekend and National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebrations.
