The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team commenced its 2025 spring season with a seventh-place finish at the Match in the Desert. The event, hosted by the University of Kansas, took place at the Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club in Gold Canyon, Arizona. The Eagles faced six teams ranked within the national top 40 and ended the single-round competition with a score of 17-over 305 on the par-72, 6,271-yard Prospector Course.
Two players from Eastern Michigan finished in the top 15. Savannah de Bock tied for 11th with a score of 2-over 74. Newcomer Erina Tan tied for 15th with a score of 3-over 75. "Despite not finishing at par or better for the first time all year," de Bock was joined by freshman Tan in outperforming four players ranked in the top 50 individual rankings. Tan also achieved an eagle on the par-5, 501-yard 13th hole.
Other team members included Riley Kim and Mariana Vega, who both scored a 6-over 78 to tie for 29th place. Julianna Go finished in 39th place with a score of 9-over 81. Angelica Holman participated as an individual and tied for 33rd with a score of 7-over 79.
"Erina Tan was one of three players in the event to record an eagle," marking her debut performance alongside Angelica Holman after joining Eastern Michigan earlier this month.
Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan will compete next at the Daniel Island Invitational in South Carolina from February 24-25. The event is hosted by the College of Charleston and will feature teams such as Campbell, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Georgetown, Georgia State, James Madison, NC State, Oral Roberts, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and Yale.
