Eastern Michigan University (EMU) student-athletes Kendal Bonney, Surabhi Srinivasan, and Abby Stanford have been recognized for their academic achievements by being named to the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Academic All-MAC Team. The announcement was made as part of the 2024 Volleyball Academic All-MAC Team, which includes 83 student-athletes.
The Academic All-MAC award acknowledges those who excel in both academics and athletics. Eligibility requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 and participation in at least half of the contests for their sport.
This recognition marks a first for all three EMU athletes. Abby Stanford leads with a perfect 4.00 GPA as a psychology major from Zanesville, Ohio. She is followed by Surabhi Srinivasan, from Dublin, Ohio, who has a 3.83 GPA in mathematics/secondary education. Kendal Bonney rounds out the trio with a 3.75 GPA in elementary/early childhood teaching & learning.
Bonney and Stanford also received another academic accolade earlier this season when they were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District on December 17.
The full list of honorees includes students from various universities within the MAC, showcasing achievements across different fields of study such as marketing, biology, psychology, accounting, nursing, engineering, communication studies, and more.
