The Office of Student Activities and Involvement (SAI) at Central Michigan University has announced the return of its "SAI on the Road" program. This initiative allows students to explore new cities, engage with different cultures, and form connections. The program had been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic but has resumed with the aim of fostering a sense of belonging and community through shared experiences beyond Mt. Pleasant.

“We’re really excited to be bringing these trips back to campus,” said Hadlee Rinn, Program Coordinator for SAI. “Students can off campus, meet new friends, and have new experiences. It’s a lot of fun.”

The first trip this academic year was especially significant for international students who visited Lansing, MI. They explored several international markets like Iwacu Supermarket, Swadesh Food Mart, and Fresh International. These stops allowed them to find ingredients from their home countries while meeting fellow international students.

Following the Lansing visit, over 80 students participated in a day trip to Chicago. Students could either roam independently or join CMU student guides familiar with the city. Key attractions included Shedd Aquarium, Water Tower Place, Cloud Gate ("The Bean"), and Giordano’s Pizza.

Recently, SAI on the Road organized a Halloween-themed excursion to Cedar Point for HalloWeekends. The event was successful as students enjoyed themed attractions.

Through such activities, SAI on the Road seeks to broaden students' experiences while strengthening their connections.
