Eastern Michigan University's lacrosse team faced a narrow defeat against Robert Morris University in the semifinals of the 2024 Mid-American Conference Tournament. The match, held on May 2 at Central Michigan University Lacrosse Complex, ended with a score of 12-11 in favor of Robert Morris.

Sydney Lawrence, recognized as the 2024 Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year, led Eastern Michigan with six goals. Despite her efforts, the Eagles could not maintain their lead as Robert Morris scored four goals in the final quarter to secure their victory.

The game began with Eastern Michigan taking an early lead with two quick goals by Lawrence and Amber Alderman. However, Robert Morris responded promptly, tying the game at 2-2. The first quarter concluded with Eastern holding a slight advantage at 4-3.

In the second quarter, both teams exchanged goals before entering halftime with Eastern leading 7-5. The third quarter saw Robert Morris leveling the score again before Lawrence's fourth goal briefly put Eastern ahead. The final quarter was decisive as Robert Morris took their first lead and maintained it despite Lawrence's sixth goal for Eastern.

Eastern finished their season with a record of 7-9, marking an improvement from their inaugural season record of 2-14. This match was significant for Eastern as it marked their first tournament game and postseason appearance.

Lawrence's performance tied the MAC Tournament record for individual goals in a game, matching Natalie Calandra-Ryan's achievement from May 5, 2022. Abby Alderman contributed one goal and one assist while Kelsea Dague and Amber Alderman each scored twice.

Despite outdrawing Robert Morris by winning 20-of-26 draw controls, Eastern could not capitalize on this advantage. Maddie Porter made six saves and caused two turnovers during the match.

This loss leaves Eastern winless against Robert Morris in three encounters and concludes back-to-back defeats following another close game on April 27.
