The Eastern Michigan University tennis program has announced the addition of Lara Diaz Zayas to its 2024-25 roster. Head Coach Ryan Kucera made the announcement on May 29. Diaz Zayas hails from Mar De Ajo, Argentina, where she is ranked first in the Buenos Aires province.

"We are so excited for the addition of Lara to the Eastern Tennis Family," Kucera stated. "Her resume speaks for itself; she has competed at the highest level and achieved pro success at a young age. As a player, Lara is a fierce competitor who has a diverse skill set and a nice feel for the game. More importantly though, she's an awesome young woman with a love for tennis, a great spirit, and a strong desire to be great. She will fit in well here and I look forward to her contributions on and off the court!"

Diaz Zayas holds a professional ranking of No. 11 in Argentina and ranks first in Buenos Aires province. She advanced to the semifinals of the doubles tournament at the 2023 W15 Córdoba event as part of Division 1 of interclubs of the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT). Her career rankings include as high as No. 1,394 in WTA singles, No. 185 in ITF Pro Singles Rankings, and No. 1,484 in WTA Doubles Rankings.

She joins other newcomers including Iva Daneva from North Macedonia, Viktorie Hazmukova from Czechia, and Marta Komar from Poland who transferred from Wayne State University. Komar was recently awarded the ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award for NCAA Division II Midwest Region after aiding her team to reach NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
