Eastern Michigan University's Esme Davies has been recognized as the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Women's Track Athlete of the Week, according to an announcement by the conference office on May 1. This recognition follows her recent honor as MAC Women's Scholar Athlete of the Week on April 24.

This is the first time Davies has received this accolade in her track and field career, although she previously earned it during the 2023 cross country season on October 17. The award marks Eastern Michigan's fourth recognition of the outdoor season.

Davies achieved this honor after finishing 10th out of 60 competitors with a time of 15:59.07 in the 5,000-meter run at the Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on April 25. Her performance is notable for being the best in the conference, ranking as the 72nd-fastest nationally, and standing as the third-fastest in Eastern Michigan's program history. It also represents an outdoor personal best for Davies.

Her recent achievements include running a program top-10 time for two consecutive races. She set a new program record in the 10,000-meter event with a time of 33:30.93 at the Wake Forest Invitational on April 20.

The Eagles are scheduled to compete next at the Billy Hayes Invitational at Indiana University's Robert C. Haugh Complex in Bloomington, Indiana, on Friday, May 3. The meet will commence at 1 p.m.
