Eastern Michigan University's men's basketball team has announced the addition of Carlos McMath as the new Director of Operations. The announcement was made by Head Coach Stan Heath on May 28.

McMath brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as Associate Head Coach at Northwood University from 2022 to 2024 and as Head Coach at Schoolcraft Community College during the 2021-22 season. "Carlos is a very experienced coach from Northwood, as well as Head Coach at Schoolcraft Community College," said Heath. "He's well-connected in the Saginaw area where there's been an abundance of talent over the years. He brings a great work ethic and is very knowledgeable and will do very well handling our operations."

Before his time at Schoolcraft Community College, McMath was an Assistant Coach for Northwood's Timberwolves in the 2020-21 season. His coaching career also includes six seasons as Head Coach at Delta College, where he led the team to a national tournament final four appearance in 2018, their first since 1989. For his achievements, McMath received accolades such as District 10 and Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Coach of the Year.

"I am excited to be joining a great university and coaching staff led by Coach Stan Heath," expressed McMath. "I look forward to contributing my time, talents, and gifts that are needed for us to be successful on and off the court."

McMath began his coaching career at Detroit Osborn High School in 2008-09 before moving on to Arthur Hill High School from 2009-15. A graduate of Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, Mich., he completed his bachelor's degree in Communications with a focus on Rhetorical Analysis from Wayne State University in 2010. During his time there, he was both a football student-athlete and part of Wayne State's nationally-ranked forensic team. Furthering his education, McMath earned a Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law in 2013.
