Eastern Michigan University (EMU) has received a substantial $6.5 million commitment from GameAbove to support its men's and women's golf programs. This contribution elevates GameAbove's total investment in EMU Golf to over $14.5 million, making it the largest single-donor support for one sport in the university's history.

GameAbove, known for its charitable contributions and investments, has been supporting EMU since 2019 with more than $34.5 million donated to the university and local community causes. The group's initiatives focus on enhancing academic and athletic experiences at EMU.

"Thanks to GameAbove's generosity, our golf programs are set to reach unprecedented heights," stated Scott Wetherbee, EMU Vice President/Director of Athletics. "This support enhances our competitive edge and significantly enriches our golfers' educational and athletic experiences."

The funds will be used to strengthen the infrastructure supporting student-athletes, coaches, and operations within the golf programs. This includes improving coaches' compensation packages, hiring additional staff, player development initiatives, as well as meeting operational needs such as equipment and travel.

Keith J. Stone, Chairman of GameAbove, expressed enthusiasm about this partnership: "GameAbove's reinvestment in EMU Golf further bonds our strategic partnership to build a national powerhouse... Together with the GameAbove Golf Performance Center, EMU Golf is poised to become a perennial contender."

Stone's involvement with EMU predates GameAbove's official formation by over a decade through various contributions that have enhanced facilities and supported student-athlete experiences.

In January 2024, EMU unveiled the GameAbove Golf Performance Center at Eagle Crest Golf Course thanks to an $8 million gift from GameAbove. This facility provides comprehensive training amenities including locker rooms, meeting spaces, indoor putting areas, simulators, and more.

Eagle Crest Golf Club recently achieved a ranking of No. 9 among Top 25 College Golf Courses by Golf Pass Golfers' Choice 2024—a testament to its quality offerings for students and visitors alike.

Beyond golf-related projects, GameAbove has also contributed financially towards other sports and academic facilities at EMU such as the Brian Clouse Atrium & Football Players Lounge among others.

GameAbove continues expanding its influence through new ventures like GameAbove Sports which aims at supporting professional-level players from EMU—a sponsorship platform with more details forthcoming soon.
