Marcus Kemp led the Eastern Michigan University men's track distance team to a notable performance at the Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana. Competing at the Robert C. Haugh Complex on May 3, Kemp secured first place in the 1,500-meter race with a time of 3:40.92. This achievement marks the best time in the conference and places him at No. 45 nationally.

The Eagles' team saw one first-place finish and one top-three placing during the event, alongside two outdoor personal-best performances and one entry into the program's top-10 records.

Kemp, hailing from Kitchener, Ontario, improved upon his previous best of 3:42.77 set at the Wake Forest Invitational on April 19. His latest time not only tops his previous record but also ranks him fourth in EMU's program history.

In another strong showing for EMU, Kian Wiles from Hull, England finished third in the 800-meter invite with a personal-best time of 1:48.90. This time is second-best in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), just behind teammate Ronnie Brandal's mark of 1:48.47 achieved earlier this season at the Jim Click Invitational on April 5. Brandal finished fourth in Friday's meet with a close time of 1:48.91.

The Eagles are set to compete next at the MAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Northern Illinois University from May 9 to May 11.
