The CMU Libraries has introduced a new laptop loaning program. Students can now check out laptops for up to two weeks and use them on or off-campus.

Previously, the library offered laptops for in-library use only, with a maximum checkout period of four hours. The decision to extend the loan period and allow off-site usage was made following numerous student requests.

"We received a lot of requests for short-term loans – ranging from a couple days to a few weeks — and for laptops that could be used outside of the library," said a library representative. "In most cases, students hoped to check out a loaner laptop while their personal laptop was being repaired or while they were waiting for a new laptop to arrive."

To meet this demand, the library has allocated 20 laptops—eighteen PCs and two Macs—that can be checked out for up to two weeks. For more information or to check out a laptop, students are encouraged to visit the Library Services Desk on the 2nd floor or email cmulibraries@cmich.edu.
