Former Eastern Michigan University Women's Track & Field student-athlete Brittni Mason has been selected to the United States' Paralympic Team for the second time in her career, the United States Olympic/Paralympic Committee (USOPC) announced Sunday, July 21.

Eastern track & field is now sending two former student-athletes to Paris as both Mason and triple jumper Donald Scott will be representing Team USA in their respective Olympic/Paralympic games.

Mason's selection marks the second of her career as she previously competed at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. She medaled in all three of her events, earning silver in both the 100m (11.97) and 200m (25.00) T47, before earning gold in a world record-setting 4x100m mixed relay, as Mason's squad crossed the finish line in 45.52 seconds.

"I'm extremely excited for Brittni and everything she has worked so hard for. Brittni is now a two-time Paralympic qualifier and that says a lot as her continued work ethic and passion for the sport is going to be put on display at the biggest level. I'm excited to see how she does and will be cheering her on," said Co-Director of Cross Country/Track & Field and Head Women's T&F Coach Chris Best.

Now the first two-time Paralympian in program history, her selection comes after an outstanding performance at the 2024 United States Paralympic Team Trials held at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla., Thursday-Saturday, July 18-20. Mason placed first in all three of her races. She first won the 100m open Friday evening, running the distance in 12.18. Mason went on to collect two golds on Saturday, first winning the 100m T46 in 12.21, and then the 200m T46 in 25.78.

Mason was a four-time All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) selection during her time in Ypsilanti, as she earned first team accolades three times and second team once. She played a pivotal role in the program record-setting 4x100m relay team who clocked in at 44.65 at the 2019 NCAA East Regional Championships, May 23-25. Also during the 2019 outdoor campaign, Mason's 4x100m relay team ran to a first-place finish and broke a MAC Outdoor Championships Record as they finished in 45.04.

Mason was also notable academically, receiving five Academic All-MAC honors during her career along with a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete nod (2018), an award presented to select honorees from each conference sport.
