Eastern Michigan University and second-year Head Volleyball Coach Kevin Foeman have announced the Eagles' 2024 volleyball schedule. The team is set for 32 regular season matches, with 13 at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti and 19 on the road. The Eagles will face 14 institutions outside of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) before postseason action begins on Nov. 22 with the MAC Tournament.
The season kicks off with an exhibition against Hillsdale College at home on Aug. 24, followed by participation in the Hampton Inn Invitational hosted by Indiana University-Indianapolis from Aug. 30-31. Eastern will play SIUE and Valparaiso University on Aug. 30, and IU Indy on Aug. 31.
EMU's first away match is against Washtenaw County rival, the University of Michigan, on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.
The home portion of EMU's regular season opens with the EMU Tournament from Sept. 6-7, featuring George Washington University, Oakland University, and Marshall University as opponents.
Following this tournament, EMU will compete in Morehead State University's Comfort Inn-Vitational from Sept. 13-14, facing the University of Evansville and Morehead State on Friday and Duquesne University on Saturday.
A home match against Michigan State University is scheduled for Sept. 16 before EMU heads to Fort Wayne for their final regular season tournament at Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational Presented by Hyatt Place from Sept. 20-21.
MAC play begins with back-to-back matches against Kent State University in Kent, Ohio on Sept. 26-27.
Other notable matches include a rivalry game against Central Michigan University on Oct. 1 and consecutive contests against Miami University in Ypsilanti on Oct. 4-5.
EMU's longest homestand runs from Oct.17-26 with matches against Northern Illinois University, Western Michigan University, and two games versus Ohio Bobcats.
November starts with two matches against Ball State University followed by three out of five final regular-season games played at home including another matchup with CMU and two games versus Akron Zips.
The regular season concludes with two away games against the University at Buffalo from Nov.15-16 before entering postseason play starting Nov.22 where they aim to replicate their last successful run in the MAC Tournament during the 2018 season when they emerged as champions after defeating Miami in five sets.
