The House of Representatives unanimously approved Congressman John Moolenaar's amendment to water permitting legislation aimed at protecting America's natural resources. The amendment, which passed by voice vote, prohibits the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from granting water permits to companies and subsidiaries controlled by certain foreign countries.

"My amendment protects Michigan's natural resources from being used by companies controlled by our nation's foreign adversaries and prohibits the EPA from issuing them any water permits. Under no circumstance should CCP-affiliated companies like Gotion be allowed to use Michigan's water. This is commonsense legislation and I encourage the Senate to immediately pass this bill," said Congressman Moolenaar.

Moolenaar spoke in support of his amendment on the House floor earlier today. The overall bill, known as the Creating Confidence in Clean Water Permitting Act, was passed by the House with a largely party-line vote.
