Enrollment at Beal City Public Schools decreased by 1.8% compared to previous school year

There were 654 students enrolled in Beal City Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.8% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.1% of them were boys, and 47.9% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 91.1% of the Beal City Public Schools total enrollment.

Beal City Public Schools covers two schools within Isabella County with its main office in Mount Pleasant. Among them, Beal City High School recorded the highest enrollment of 397 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
