The House of Representatives has passed legislation that includes funding requests made by Congressman John Moolenaar to support the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. The funding, totaling over $3.1 million dollars, will be used to improve wastewater and fresh water treatment facilities for the tribe.

Congressman Moolenaar, who is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, expressed his pride in supporting the tribe and the residents of Isabella County with this critical funding. He highlighted the importance of water treatment facilities in improving the quality of life for the residents.

The funding requests were initially included in the 2024 Interior budget when it was passed by the House Appropriations Committee on July 19. The requests include $1,681,600 for the improvement of the tribe's wastewater facility and $1,480,000 for the replacement of fresh water infrastructure.
