The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has  revoked a $200 million grant  to Microvast, a Chinese Communist Party-affiliated company that was planning to use the funds for a battery factory in Tennessee.

"The Department of Energy has made the right decision by revoking taxpayer funding for a CCP-affiliated company. When are the State of Michigan and Green Township going to do the right thing? It is a historic mistake to bring these companies into our local communities when every action the CCP takes seeks to undermine America. The CCP-connected Gotion project is wrong for Mecosta County and Michigan," said Congressman John Moolenaar.

Microvast, while based in America,  has admitted  it is effectively controlled by the policies of the CCP. In paperwork it filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said, “The [Chinese] government may exert, at any time and with no notice, substantial interventions and influences over the manner in which we conduct our business activities, which we may not be able to anticipate."

This is more evidence that federal, state, and local governments should not be partnering with companies affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party and giving them taxpayer dollars.
