Senior Avery Cotton is the 2023 recipient of the Clare County Habitat for Humanity Scholarship for $500.  Avery, the son of Eric and Kelly Cotton, is involved in football, powerlifting, track, and bass club.  He is a second-year CTE welding student and is dual enrolled through Mid Michigan College.  A high honors student, Avery plans to finish his welding degree at Mid Michigan College after graduation. Outside of school and extra-curricular activities, Avery is employed through Cotton Brothers Construction LLC.

The Clare County Habitat for Humanity Scholarship is board/staff funded (separate from Habitat for Humanity funds).  They recognize local seniors in Clare County and help support their post-secondary education.  Clare County Habitat provides affordable, energy efficient housing and mortgage opportunities to lower income homeowners who want the chance to own a home of their own. They have built more than 20 homes since becoming an affiliate in Michigan.

They are currently partnered with the Clare-Gladwin RESD Construction Program building homes at the Magnus Center.
