A human trafficking awareness event is scheduled for Monday, March 17 on the Mid Michigan College Mt. Pleasant Campus.
The event speaker is Kaitlyn Holbeck from R.I.S.E. Advocacy who will share what human trafficking is, debunk myths surrounding the issue, and answer attendee questions.
Holbeck has a master’s degree in social work and joined the R.I.S.E. Advocacy team as the Sexual Assault Counselor in August 2022. She then completed specialized training in the field of Human Trafficking in order to be able to provide training and education to the community.
The event is free, includes lunch, and requires an RSVP atmidmich.edu/community/news/human-trafficking-awareness-event-march-27.
“We’re honored to be a part of bringing this event to our community,” said Amy Fisher, Dean of Business & Professional Studies at Mid. “This is a very important topic that impacts community members more often than people might think, and we’re eager to help raise awareness surrounding human trafficking.”
The event is sponsored by R.I.S.E. Advocacy, Mid Michigan College, Zonta Club of Mt. Pleasant, and HopeWell Ranch.
