Suburban Library Cooperative – will begin migration to Polaris

On September 1, our Library – along with all the shared system libraries in the Suburban Library Cooperative – will begin migration to Polaris, a new computer system and online catalog.

What does this mean for patrons?  It means an improved and enhanced experience when browsing and navigating the online catalog, and better service with the integration of our systems and resources. During this migration, some services and system functions will be temporarily suspended; the first of which is our holds systems. Beginning on September 1st patrons will not be able to place new holds on items until after Polaris is up and running. This temporary pause will include MeLCat, the statewide borrowing system. Holds placed before September 1 will continue to be delivered to the Library and may be checked out when they are available. Libby and Hoopla, two great online lending services, will not be affected by the pause, so patrons may still access their accounts with these sites.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that occurs during this migration. More updates will be posted here on our Facebook page as well as on the Library’s website and a full timeline of what to expect will be posted in our upcoming newsletter. Please speak to a librarian if you have any questions about our upcoming transition to Polaris. The Library looks forward to sharing this exciting change with patrons!
