Your firefighters answered a variety of calls for service including 2 different working fires with two very different tactics. The first fire was a chimney fire reported as smoke seen in the area of Jefferson and 12 Mile. Crews were able to locate the house, contain and extinguish the fire with no injuries reported. This type of fire can pose a variety of challenges that require special tools and tactics different from a standard fire.
Props to one of our long-legged firefighters that made this chimney look like Sandy the Horse at Meijer.
The second fire came in shortly after the chimney fire; first arriving crews had multiple calls for smoke and flames in the roof and garage. A quick interior attack quickly contained this fire. One resident was treated and transported for smoke inhalation. Special thanks to Roseville Fire and Eastpointe Fire for their help on this scene.
Both of these fire calls, a carbon monoxide investigation, and the many medicals that came into the department yesterday highlight the importance of a properly staffed department with the necessary skills and diverse training to handle any emergency. These emergencies don’t care if it’s a holiday or not, but rest assured, our family is always ready to help your family!
