Village of Spring Lake recently issued the following announcement.
You may notice a blue dot, blue (x), blue (A), or a blue (/) on our trees in the Village. Consumers Energy will be working on or around your property soon to clear the vegetation by the electrical lines.
In order for Consumers Energy to give a safe and reliable electricity, they will need to:
1. Trim various tree limbs. The amount of clearance needed from the lines varies based on voltage of the line and species of the tree. Trees to be trimmed on your property will be marked with a blue dot.
2. Cut trees on your property that are interfering or may interfere with area electric lines. Stumps will remain and will be treated with an approved herbicide to prevent regrowth. Tress to be cut on your property are marked with a blue (X).
3. Cut any trees that are not in the right-of-way but are diseased, damaged, dead, or dying that may pose a hazard to the area electric lines. Trees are marked with a blue (A) and will be cut at no cost to you.
4. Cut saplings (brush) on your property that are interfering, or may interfere, with electric lines or prevent access to the lines. Stumps will remain and will be treated with an approved herbicide to prevent regrowth. Brush may be marked with a blue slash (/)
5. Mow brush.
6. Cut vine growing on/at pole and apply herbicide to stump
7. Use heavy mechanical clearing equipment on your property
8. Herbicide will be used on your property to control vegetation
9. Perform significant line clearing work on your property. (Call Consumers Energy for details)
