County of Isabella issued the following announcement on Aug. 28.
Isabella County has two emergency relief programs. Soldier’s Relief and the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund can assist veterans with financial emergencies. Please contact the Isabella County VA at 989-317-4093 to inquire about either of these programs if you have a financial emergency.
Isabella County VA applied for the County Veteran Service Fund grant from the State of Michigan. When COVID caused some veterans to lose their employment, unused grant funds which were reallocated for COVID Relief using the State of Michigan guidelines to supplement the existing relief programs. The COVID relief program uses the Meijer vouchers for food, paper products, cleaning products, health and beauty care, and pet food. The vouchers may be issued if the veteran does not meet the criteria of the other emergency programs or in addition to those programs in certain cases.
Again please contact the Isabella County VA if you are suffering a financial hardship regardless of COVID. Even if you are not suffering a financial hardship, our counselor will speak to you about the possibility of other VA or veteran benefits.
