MidMichigan Medical Center issued the following announcement on May 28.
Beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, June 1, Urgent Care and Occupational Health services will be available in the Towsley Building, 4201 Campus Ridge Drive, Suites 2400 & 2500, on the campus of MidMichigan Medical Center - Midland. Normal business hours will resume in June: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Online appointment booking will also resume June 1.
This temporary relocation was prompted by record levels of flooding in the region that impacted the Urgent Care building at 3009 Saginaw Rd. That location is temporarily closed and patients who require urgent care services are being advised to seek care at any other MidMichigan Urgent Care location now through May 31. Occupational Health clients are being directed to MidMichigan Urgent Care – Freeland through May 31. These services will continue in the Towsley Building from June 1 until the Urgent Care building is restored.
The Towsley Building is also home to a variety of other physician offices and services that will continue in their present location.
Patients may get up to date information about current wait times, hours of operation, maps and driving directions for all MidMichigan Urgent Care locations by visiting www.midmichigan.org/urgent.
Experts at MidMichigan Health are also reminding patients not to neglect their health during the current pandemic, especially in light of the recent flooding. Patients are urged to continue seeking help for any condition that they would have addressed prior to these events, rather than waiting for symptoms to get worse. If patients have any questions or concerns about their health or are experiencing any new symptoms, they should call their primary care provider or call the nearest Urgent Care or Emergency Department if their primary care provider is not available.
“What we are finding is that many people are fearful of seeking out care due to COVID-19, yet their risk may actually be higher if they ignore their health,” said Mary Slominis, M.D., medical director for MidMichigan’s Urgent Care facilities. “As experts in infection control, we are confident we can safely care for you. Our facilities are cleaner than ever, we have all private exam rooms, we have screening measures and social distancing measures to keep patients separated, and our staff and patients are all wearing masks. Ignoring your symptoms is more likely to land you in the hospital in a serious condition, so we are urging you to call your doctor with any potential concerns.”
Patients are also reminded that if they are experiencing any of the known symptoms of COVID-19, they should call before visiting the facility. Symptoms include cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, or at least two of the following symptoms:
- Fever
- Chills
- Repeated shaking with chills
- Muscle pain
- Headache
- Sore throat
- New loss of taste or smell
